He writes like his mom. You can tell that she’s been a strong influence in his life – co-laboring in love and shepherding alongside his father.
A couple of weeks ago, I discovered something pretty noteworthy. I discovered that a humble man of God that I’ve had the pleasure of being in community with for over a year possessed an exquisite skill of writing! It had been hidden from me for quite some time. But once I discovered it, it was captivating. The writing, that is. It was meticulous. Calculated. Well thought-out. Focused. Perfect. And I was enamored. It brought me great joy. Writing is my gift and my passion. So immediately my heart skipped a beat.
But what’s more important than his skill in writing is that he exemplifies the love of Christ in his daily walk. He is a meek, quiet, gentle soul that finds his strength and identity in Christ alone. He is studious. He is conscientious. He loves the Word. He loves to take notes during study. He finds joy in confessing his weaknesses, and allows Christ to be exalted through his confession. He is confident – in a non-gaudy, non-arrogant, non-irritating kind of way. When he walks into a room, his presence commands the kind of attention that most women would overlook – unless their eye has been trained to appreciate what is peculiar and abnormal in the world we live in.
He knows who he is. He’s comfortable in his own skin. He doesn’t try to fit in. He doesn’t try to exercise “machismo.” He doesn’t try to be anyone other than the man that God created him to be. This is biblical manhood in action. This is Christ loving the church in action.
As time progresses, I see him making great strides in his walk; he consistently looks for ways to grow in his faith and strengthen his relationship with the Savior. He is embarking on a new, great experience here soon, and I am excited for what God desires to do in and through him as a result of his faithfulness and obedience.
He has been a great influence in the way that I view biblical manhood. And God continues to place men and brothers in my life to show me who He is and what I should expect from my fellow heirs with Christ and in my future husband. I am honored that he would give me such great examples of who He is on earth.
God’s design has been created in such a way that both a man and a woman, a husband and a wife co-labor in love and complement each other in glorifying the Lord and exalting His name – in work, in ministry, in raising children, in serving the church, in reaching the lost, in the menial and the mundane. A mother and a father firm in the Lord work together to shape the lives of their children and those in their sphere of influence; those whom God has entrusted them with.
This young man has undoubtedly been influenced by both parents, and it is inspiring.
A woman’s gifts are just as important as a man’s. But the man leads. And I can see his father’s leadership embedded into his heart and his entire being along with the nurture, love, care, and strong biblical teaching from his mother. They have both grounded him and made him the man of God that he is today.
Glory to God. I’m thankful.
And so it continues…
Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. Ephesians 5:1
With God’s Love,
